Pets will not be accepted for carriage on any Air Jamaica aircraft neither as checked baggage nor as Cargo.
Only seeing-eye dogs may be transported in the cabin when accompanying a passenger who is dependent on it.
The following items irrespective of their actual dimensions may be considered one (1) piece and accepted in lieu of one (1) piece of checked baggage whose outside linear dimensions are 53 inches (135 cms).
Additional Free Carry-On Items
The following items may be carried on free in addition to the free baggage allowance:
Carriage of Strollers
Air Jamaica now provides a new service feature for passengers who are traveling with infants. The tagging of strollers will be standardized offering two (2) options to passengers - strollers that are tagged and placed with hold baggage for delivery with general checked baggage in customs claim areas or strollers that are checked at the gate and delivered at the destination on the jet-bridge or at the aircraft steps.
Air Jamaica will carry in the luggage compartment free of charge a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair for passengers traveling with infants. Only umbrella type strollers are allowed in the aircraft cabin.
Embargo Periods
No excess baggage will be accepted on the following routes during the specified periods:
For your protection, hazardous materials including but not limited to, explosives, compressed gases, lighter fluid, flammable solids, oxidizers, car batteries, poisons, corrosives, radioactive materials, "strike anywhere" matches, loaded firearms and common household agents such as bleach, cooking oil, drain openers, cleansers, etc. are forbidden on board the aircraft in your baggage or on your person.
In the course of normal handling, luggage will show evidence of use. Air Jamaica will not accept liability for the following: Damage or loss of protruding baggage parts such as wheels, pull-straps, pockets, handles, etc., nor for minor damage resulting from normal wear and tear such as nicks, scratches, scuff marks, dents, cuts and soils.
Liability for loss, delay or damage will be limited as indicated below unless a higher valuation is declared at the time of check-in and additional charges paid. No liability will exist for valuable items (such as cash, jewelry, cameras, electronic devices and similar items) in checked or unchecked luggage or for fragile or perishable items. There is no liability for perishable items and when checked must be packed separately.
Baggage liability is covered under the Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention. Where the Warsaw Convention applies, such liability is limited to US $9.07 per pound ($20 per kilogram) based on the weight of the bag. If unweighed, a maximum liability of US $634.90 exists on each piece of checked baggage. Check with Air Jamaica for additional information. Baggage covered under the Montreal Convention is reimbursed at a maximum value of 1,000 SDRs (approximately US $1,400) per bag.
Coverage for higher valuation may be acquired through the purchase of excess valuation insurance. Details are available at check-in.
All baggage irregularities including damage should be reported prior to exiting the Customs/Baggage Claim area.
